How to Install Mods

To play on the AFK Tavern server, you'll need to download and install the same set of mods we run on the server — one by one, manually. Follow the steps below — it takes about 15–20 minutes the first time.

    Download each mod from Nexus

    Go to each mod link below and download it using the Manual Download button on Nexus. You need a free Nexus account to download mods.

    Do not use a mod manager or loader. Tools like Vortex often pull in extra mods you don't need and can break compatibility with our server.

    Open your game's local files in Steam

    In your Steam library, right-click 7 Days to Die → Manage → Browse local files. This opens the folder where the game is installed.

    Extract mods into the Mods folder

    Inside your 7 Days to Die install folder, open (or create) the Mods folder. Extract each downloaded mod so you end up with individual folders — one per mod — sitting directly inside Mods.

    The Wasteland note: The Wasteland download unpacks into several folders (including 0_TFP_Harmony, 0-Quartz, 0-SCore, 0-XNPCCore, and The_Wasteland). That's normal — place every folder directly in your Mods folder, not nested inside another folder.
    Watch for double folders: After extracting, you should not have paths like Mods/QuickStack/QuickStack/. If you do, move the inner contents up one level.

    Launch without Easy Anti-Cheat

    Our mods require EAC to be turned off. In Steam, click Play on 7 Days to Die — you'll see launch options. Choose 7 Days to Die (No EAC) or the equivalent non-EAC option.

    If you launch with EAC enabled, the game will not load the mods and you won't be able to join the server.

    Join the AFK Tavern server

    From the main menu, go to Join Game and search for AFK. You can also connect directly:
